Volunteering Pledge

Traditionally on construction projects, contractors have left a positive legacy by getting involved in community projects. The aim of the Battersea Phase 3 pledge is to formally provide a joined up and organised approach to volunteering across all the trade contractors working on Battersea Phase 3.

The pledge ensured that a pool of skills across the trade contractors was available to support a variety of community projects and that everyone participating does not forgo any payment by not working on site, hence further encouraging the workforce to get involved with the local community as it won’t directly affect their own income or free time.

Copies of the volunteering policy was circulated to trade contractors, as an example, of a policy that could be used, should a trade contractor not have a volunteering policy in place. All the contractors that have signed up to the pledge are fully committed to facilitate their people to volunteer during normal working hours. Once coronavirus restrictions are fully lifted they will be looking at volunteering opportunities and events such as a Volunteering week.

This volunteering pledge will be communicated to all personnel working on Battersea Phase 3, by prominently displaying it in project offices and reviewing it annually.
