Walking Floor Vehicles

The Dunsbury Park site is a new business development situated off the A3(M) at Havant, Hampshire. Hazards include overhead power lines across several plots, which could pose a problem for plant.

To mitigate the risk of having to tip below the overhead pylons, our tarmac suppliers used walking floor vehicles which are able to deliver without the need for tipping. They have an in-built floor that moves, thereby walking the material out of the trailer body to gently deliver its load. This ability to discharge without tipping improves the stability of the vehicle and provides additional health and safety benefits to drivers, the site team and other operatives working in the vicinity. The vehicle is ideal for use in tight areas or where there are height restrictions as it simply continues laying the floor, making it highly efficient and cost effective whilst proving a safer option.

As well as the lowered risk this delivers, it has an additional benefit of increased load size, thereby reducing carbon emissions to help lessen the environmental impact.
