Waste Scorecard

Mace are working hard to reduce their waste tonnages from site, particularly focused on the construction phase (rather than demolition or excavation which we have little influence on.)

Following on from the success of their Plastics Scorecard which gave a checklist guidance on what to focus on, they have adapted this to cover the broader waste agenda too.

The Waste Scorecard covers management, office/canteen/welfare, site activities and innovations. Within each of these are suggested actions, some are mandatory prerequisites, and others are optional. All prerequisites plus a number of optional items must be completed to meet 1 point for the project in the monthly scoring, and if further optional actions are undertaken a project can score 2 points. These points are then valid for 6 months in the monthly scoring criteria as long as the standard is maintained.

The One Crown Place project has completed this checklist achieving both points. The scorecard encourages the project team to consider certain actions as priorities, and provides guidance for other waste related actions. Examples of these include holding waste workshops, implementing closed loop schemes, ensuring clarity of segregated waste streams in monthly waste reports, and auditing waste carriers and contractor facilities.
