Water Reuse Wheelwash

A high-performance vehicle wheel-wash system with water recycling has been installed on site.

This is an automatically activated drive-through spray wash system designed to prevent the spread of site dirt and debris on to internal airport roads as well as public highways.

It is powered by 60kva inverter-driven pumps which save 50% energy and consist of a closed loop system effectively recycling 36,000 litres of water that is used and held in the storage tank. The mobile wheel-wash is easy to set-up, maintain and clean. The water recycling tank is divided into three sections by baffle and weir plats to aid particulate settlements and water quality.

Each chamber is fitted with valves for easy sludge removal. The wheelwash uses an automatic entry and exit sensor to efficiently clean the vehicles that use it. Not only does this promote sustainable recycled water usage, it also ensures all vehicles depart our site clean, eliminating the risk of FOD (Foreign Object Debris) to Heathrow airside roads and beyond.
