There have been a number of occasions where delivery vehicles (usually an artic or rigid lorry) have turned up on site with either:

  • No edge protection at all resulting in the vehicle being turned away.
  • Insufficient edge protection if the vehicle has been fully laden with rebar.

The problem arises when a slinger accesses the trailer and the lack or insufficient edge protection creates a risk of falling from height. Even if the strap edge protection can be added to the wagon on site, this is usually insufficient if the wagon is fully loaded.

We devised a wheeled scaffold edge protection system as a simple and fast solution to ensuring that all delivery wagons that turn up to site have sufficient edge protection on all sides.

We believe that by doing so we have reduced the risk of operatives working at height without the correct fall protection in place. Its a cost effective solution for sites who have encountered similar issues with deliveries.
