Workers’ Memorial Day

Workers’ Memorial Day is coordinated annually by the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

This day is intended to serve as a rallying cry to “remember the dead, but fight for the living”.

To support the Workers Memorial Day on your site, you could do the following:

  • Encourage operatives to undertake relevant and regular health and safety training;
  • Run a specific health and safety campaign on this day;
  • Use posters and interactive question and answer sheets to highlight specific health and safety issues and encourage workers to think about their own health and safety, as well as colleagues and visitors;
  • Hold a minutes silence to remember workers who have died;
  • Offer small incentives, such as vouchers or a paid for breakfast, to encourage operatives to feedback potential health and safety improvements.

Workers Memorial Day is held on 28th April every year, to find out more about this event, click the link below.
