Workforce health and wellbeing assessments

Health surveillance and screening of the workforce should be in place.

Providing help and support for workers will help to ensure happier, healthier employees.

Medical assessments will also monitor health risks and any potential individual concerns.

Examples of health and wellbeing assessments, which have been implemented on sites include:

  • The company has, of its own initiative, engaged a professional health screening company to conduct a complete health surveillance of all operatives on site, in a confidential room and free of charge to all the workforce;
  • The site’s approach to health and wellbeing involved a monthly programme of activities and information and included a DIY health checkpoint, with clear, easily understood feed-outs from a computerised system;
  • The provision of a ‘wellbeing’ medical assessment in the site canteen was a great way to motivate workers to monitor their health by measuring weight, pulse and blood pressure. This was all supported by excellent healthy living advice. The cost of this equipment was jointly funded by the client.
