World of Work Roadshow

ISG participated at an event located at the Twickenham Stoop Stadium on the 6th of March 2019. Following the success of last year’s World of Work Roadshow, ISG decided to contribute to the day to raise awareness of careers in construction for the younger generation coming through to further education, College BTec courses or A-levels.

The careers roadshow is put on to inform and inspire the young people of the Boroughs of Richmond and Kingston. 1200+ students and young people (aged 15-18) attended throughout the day to find out more about jobs. ISG was therefore promoted to many students who were looking to see what industries there are to work in, thus spreading awareness to the construction industry at a young age. All 70 companies that attended the event were able to offer apprenticeships, internships and graduate schemes. ISG as a company offer these with the addition of an industrial placement year.

The day was very interactive, which was important to engage the students with the ISG team. The two ISG employees who were present went about their task of promoting the different career paths that are available in ISG. These included the apprenticeship scheme, industrial placement year and the graduate scheme.

The first hour of the event (11am to 12pm) was especially aimed at the school’s young students with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND). There was also an awards ceremony for the SEND students prior during the event.

By the end of the event, the apprenticeship scheme got the most interest from the students, who were keen to learn about the opportunities that they could expect if they were to enrol in the future after further education.
