World Suicide Prevention Day

World Suicide Prevention Day is coordinated annually by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The week is all about taking action to raise awareness of suicide prevention.

To support World Suicide Prevention Day on your site you could do the following:

  • Read the Considerate Constructors Scheme’s ‘Spotlight on…mental health’ for information about how other companies are effectively approaching mental health and to find charities which support the construction industry;
  • Make sure all your operatives are aware of any support that is available and have an open door policy;
  • Support the Construction Industry Helpline and make the workforce fully aware of this;
  • Make use of the variety of resources provided by The Movember Foundation.
  • Offer confidential support and advice from a fully trained doctor or nurse.

World Suicide Prevention Day takes place on 10 September annually.
