Wormery

With waste products forming such an environmental issue to the world, the site team at Hollyfields have installed a wormery which includes several beneficial factors. Waste food and paper is layered in the wormery which over time, is broken down to produce a rich bi-product of nitrogen and potassium.

A wormery provides:

  • A safe, striving home for worms.
  • Reduces waste food being sent to landfill.
  • Reduces paper wastage.
  • Results in a good soil conditioner for plants.
  • Creates a liquid fertiliser for plants.

These take around 8 – 12 months to fill-up, so can be utilised throughout the timescale of the scheme.
