Educate the Workforce

Topic Progress:

To help prevent workers from becoming exhausted, management should teach their workforce about the health and safety risks associated with fatigue.

To educate workers about fatigue, management can:

  • Display relevant posters and leaflets around their projects, in welfare facilities and in communal areas.
  • Educate the workforce about the signs and symptoms associated with exhaustion to help workers identify when they might be too fatigued to work safely.
  • Host toolbox talks on sites to educate about the health and safety risks associated with fatigue.
  • Discuss the issue of worker fatigue during site briefings and site inductions.
  • Educate people about the importance of sleep, rest and recovery, and the dangers of sleep deprivation.
