The Considerate Constructors Scheme

Topic Progress:

The Code of Considerate Practice states that all sites and organisations registered with the Scheme are expected to provide a supportive and caring working environment.

The Checklist used by the Scheme Monitors when monitoring registered sites asks the following questions:

  • Question 4.3: Are initiatives in place to ensure continuous safety improvements? This is followed by a prompt for Monitors to ask about workforce consultation and information, training and campaigns.
  • Question 5.1: Does the site demonstrate a commitment to respect, fair treatment, encouragement and support? This is followed by a prompt for Monitors to check if the site conducts workforce consultations and has an open door policy.
  • Question 5.3: Does the site care for the health and wellbeing of the workforce? This is followed by a prompt for Monitors to check if the site assesses occupational health risks, displays posters and provides healthy lifestyle and mental health advice.
  • Question 5.7: How is the health and wellbeing of the workforce assessed and addressed? This is followed by a prompt for Monitors to ask how worker fatigue is managed.
  • Question 5.9: What additional facilities are available for those working onsite? This is followed by a prompt for Monitors to ask about rest and recreation facilities.
