This project became the first UK construction organisation to be ‘JAM Card’ friendly.
JAM Cards allow people with a learning difficulty, autism or Asperger’s Syndrome to tell other people, fellow colleagues or workers they need ‘Just a Minute’ discreetly or easily. This is very important because individuals with a communication barrier are often reluctant or unable to tell others about their condition. However, the JAM Card allows this to happen in a simple, non-verbal manner.
Individuals who struggle to communicate can show their JAM Card or JAM app on their smartphone to make service providers aware of their disability. 10 members of staff on site are trained to understand JAM Cards and to engage with those who struggle with social interaction and communication.
