Lateral Transport Unit
Due to the complex nature of manoeuvring heavy, pre-cast soffit slabs in a site with many logistical constraints and challenges, the project engineers researched into what they could use to facilitate the movement of the slabs, whilst also reducing the associated health and safety risks.
The slabs are required to be moved between different levels and different columns which, is where the lateral transport unit comes into play. The tracked leveller enables this movement, with optimal control of the lifting load as it features an automatic self-levelling bed.
This eliminates the risk of the material falling and injuring the workforce, whilst also preventing damage to the slab itself which increases the resource efficiency of this particular site activity. This piece of equipment is also electric which ticks further boxes on the project’s environmental requirements list in reducing carbon emissions.
The tracked leveller can also be used on uneven terrain and surfaces, and is capable of lifting loads up to 6 Tonnes.
