PPE Mannequins

The industry has many varying rules and PPE requirements with bespoke policies between contractors. Typically, inductions lay out the requirements briefly and without engagement or assessment of understanding. This can lead to operatives wearing incorrect PPE and having to be repeatedly reprimanded on site and being made to re-attend inductions, which wastes time and causes resentment.

At our Mace project, we felt we could offer more to the workforce, giving them confidence in the knowledge they are wearing the correct PPE for different types of activities. Five Fully Manoeuvrable Mannequins were recruited for an activity-based assessment. This is a fun way to use kinaesthetic learning styles (learning by participation), which often suits people in construction teams.

This has proved extremely successful with operatives feeding back that they learned many things they hadn’t previously known, thus giving confidence and resulting in no need for re-inductions as compliance on site is excellent.
