The GRIT Awards: Recognising our Excellent Staff

Our GRIT employee award scheme recognises achievements, good work, commitment above and beyond, and dedication of our staff.

This internal award scheme is an expression of our business aim to develop, value and recognise our staff as our biggest asset.

Posters, e-communication and start of shift briefings promote the scheme to our staff.

Each quarter our own staff have the opportunity to nominate an individual colleague or team of colleagues for our quarterly GRIT individual and team awards. The nominations are then judged independently by members of our senior leadership team against our five core business values.

Once scoring is completed, quarterly individual and team winners receive an engraved glass trophy and a £500 gift voucher, with all nominees receiving certificates, that are included on their personnel files.

This internal employee recognition scheme has been a winner with the staff, for example in the past year, 40 individuals and 27 different teams were nominated by colleagues for an award.

We have also introduced GRIT cards where individuals can recognise the contribution of others by simply completing a card and giving it to individuals to recognise more day to day activities.

The scheme goes a long way to ensure that we provide a supportive and caring workplace environment, and contributes to a lower staff turnover making us an employer of choice.
