Showcasing Next Level Technology in Construction to Inspire Students

Henry Brothers and Rainey Endowed Secondary School Magherafelt have recently collaborated together at a workshop on Virtual Reality at the CITB offices in Nutts Corner. As Henry Brothers are the official sponsor of the Rainey Endowed’s Construction and the Built Environment Department, we often hold seminars and workshops for the students to aid them in their skills and knowledge of the construction industry.

Our company’s Project/BIM coordinator has developed a Virtual Reality model of our flagship project for Henry Brothers. Virtual Reality is a technological system where a three dimensional, computer generated environmental setting is configured, which can be explored and interacted with by a person in real time.

The students had the opportunity of viewing the company’s project through the VR headset device and were able to explore, interact and experience the finished building and view the design layout and details before completion. Also, it helped to gain an understanding of how VR is being integrated into current construction processes.

Through this initiative, we hope to have inspired students to take up roles in the construction industry; with the age gap that we now face, supporting students who currently study the sector will mean younger, skilled people coming back into the industry.
