Prezi System for Crane Inductions

It is vital that all those on site, particularly those operating complex machinery, are well trained and aware of safety hazards. This will improve health and safety across the whole site.

See the examples below for how one site addressed this:

• The site worked with the subcontractor to create a Prezi system for crane inductions.
• The system uses an interactive screen of videos where operatives need to identify hazards correctly before being allowed on site.
• One example shown was a rope being brought down by a crane for attaching to some reinforcing that needed lifting. The hazard was that the rope was knotted. When the operative notices the knotted rope he/ she will then touch the screen and a new video pops up confirming this as a safety hazard and the reasons why.
• If the hazard is not spotted then the video will stop and identify it for the operative and this will be considered a ‘failure’ and the induction will need to be gone through again.
• The main aim is to engage the operative by using this technology and help him/ her remember what they have seen. The safety videos created for this are also available on an app for viewing on any phone.
