Construction Hard Hat Stress Tag
I used to watch Ice hockey when living in Germany, and happened to notice a stress tag on the ice hockey helmets to record G-forces. When a player gets hit this tag determines if the helmet has been stressed beyond its point.
I made contact with the suppliers of the sports helmets and discovered that no such system exists for construction hard hats.
Currently just the physical condition of a helmet would be assessed without any real knowledge of how strong and damaging any impact damage might have been. The only notable register is if the helmet has passed its sell by or manufactures life cycle date on the little tag on the brim.
A small device has been bought for each helmet on site that has a break glass type system installed in it that activates when the helmet is struck at a strength that makes its future use unsafe. Currently just the physical condition of the helmet would have been assessed without knowing how strong and damaging an impact may have had.
