Passive Purple Membrane

This contractor is applying Passive Purple Membrane to comply with Passivhaus standards.

This innovative painted membrane dramatically improves the airtightness of buildings reducing energy requirements and carbon footprint. The airtight membrane dries to form a tough, durable, waterproof membrane that protects your building from heat loss, the harmful effects of moisture and UV rays.

An application of tape is made to the window surround and the block work. Covering the brackets achieves an airtight seal around the window and opening , also the doors. The meeting of the two elements, purple paint and the intelligent membrane tape is what will create the air tightness layer. Students attended site to see this process.

Once dry Passive Purple forms an extremely tough yet flexible polymer membrane allowing it to move with the building settlement, whilst at the same time being super effective against impact damage, also eliminating the inevitable rips, tears, unstuck tapes, staple holes and large number of repairs you would expect to see using other materials.
