Anti-Slavery Day

Anti-Slavery Day is an opportunity to raise awareness of the fact over 49.6 million people in the world today, and an estimated 136,000 people in the UK, are trapped in conditions of modern slavery. But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Anti-Slavery Day is a time to encourage governments, businesses, friends, family and colleagues to do what they can to prevent human trafficking and protect victims of modern-day slavery.

To get involved with Anti-Slavery Day on your site you could consider the following:

  • Holding toolbox talks on the issue, providing advice on spotting the signs of modern slavery and encouraging workers to report any suspicions they may have.
  • Placing posters in public and discreet areas around site detailing who to contact if you suspect or are a victim of modern slavery.
  • Take part in fundraising activities for charities which support victims of modern slavery.

Anti-Slavery Day is held on 18th October annually.
