Coffee Jar Initiative

Having roughly 25 members of staff in the office daily, coffee is consumed regularly. The coffee jars began to pile up, ready to be disposed of, so we decided rather than doing so we would recycle them ourselves.

Our HR Manager took it upon herself to decorate 14 coffee jars to re-sell in aid of raising money for a local charity Rainbows Hospice for Children & Young People.

Our employees purchased these for themselves, friends & families to be used for a variety of purposes e.g. as a money jar, pen holder, candle holder, decorative jars to display etc. The proceedings from the charity bucket were then added to our other charity functions put on for Rainbows Hospice and a cheque was sent for a total of £3,000.

This not only benefited our charity, but there were positive environmental impacts such as reducing atmospheric emissions that occur from the process of melting glass during recycling. We will continue to find more new ways to recycle our coffee jars for both environmental benefits and to raise money for charity!
