Collaboration Between Scheme Registered Sites to Engage with the Community

Gas distributer Northern Gas Networks (NGN) has introduced a reach-out scheme to make contact with neighbouring Scheme-registered sites and collaborate in community involvement.

Use is made of the Scheme’s Construction Map to identify the potential sites which can share individual skills and expertise in supporting and contributing to local communities.

In autumn 2016, NGN approached Scheme-registered site in Beverley run by Walter Thompson. These were the only two Scheme-registered sites in the area at that time.

The two sites shared plans around community involvement, with NGN able to suggest ways for the Walter Thompson team to build their engagement activity plan.

During an NGN site visit, the Scheme Monitor mentioned that the Site Manager at Walter Thompson had been complimentary of the support NGN was able to provide.

Shortly after, NGN met with the Hobson and Porter site team where best practice ideas were shared and community engagement approaches discussed.

NGN now attends the Hobson and Porter annual Foundations event to ensure this positive exchange continues to deliver great outcomes for customers living near Scheme-registered sites.
