Comprehensive Mental Health Booklet

Mental health is a crucial issue in the construction industry and contractors are increasingly aware of the need to break the stigma on site and provide clear guidance on where employees can go for advice about mental health issues.

See the examples below for how one site achieved this:

  • As part of Mental Health Week, the site held a 10 minute session whereby operatives were encouraged to have a cup of tea and a biscuit and chat about mental health.
  • To facilitate these discussions, the company developed and issued a pocket-sized ring bound booklet.
  • The booklet included numerous support services and helplines for immediate help and help related to particular issues. These included childhood trauma, domestic violence, addiction, debt, bereavement and crime victim support.
  • The booklet also included quotes from famous people talking openly about their mental health to normalise these issues.
