Creating a Beach for the Public

Acts of goodwill go a long way towards fostering positive relationships between construction sites and their community.

See the examples below for how one site addressed this:

  • The site donated 20 tonnes of non-toxic sand to create a beach area for the public to enjoy.
  • They also provided table tennis tables around town as part of the summer ‘Ping’ event.
  • The initiative was part of the Better Barnsley redevelopment project to try and maintain footfall for traders in the temporary markets while the main building was being refurbished.
  • Once the summer is over the site will deliver the sand to a local good cause so nothing goes to waste.
