Hydration Campaign and Custom Water Bottles

Costain Skanska JV Paddington C405 held a Winter Hydration Campaign led by the Project Director.

Not many people consider hydration to be an issue during the winter months but in fact because of being outside in the cold weather our blood vessels constrict to prevent blood from flowing freely to the extremities allowing the body to preserve the heat in the core of the body.

The restriction of blood flow causes your body to lose the additional fluids quicker subsequently leading to dehydration. This is known as vasoconstriction.

An awareness briefing went out and everyone on the project was given a custom C405 water bottle with a built in fruit infuser to encourage everyone to increase their water intake.

Over 1000 bottles were bought for all contractors working on site. An engagement tour was led by the Project Director and Works Manager where they spoke to groups of operatives on the importance of hydration and the campaign which was well received.

The environmental benefits of providing everyone a water bottle were also explored, with the bottles being made in the UK and BPA free as well as reducing the amount of plastic cups being used on site.
