Internal Use of Birds of Prey

Birds have been an issue throughout the whole build process. Pigeons have often nested or just visited the building, littering surfaces with droppings, creating health and safety issues as well as potentially ruining finished surfaces. Given the nature of the end use of the project, we wanted to scare the birds away in the friendliest way possible.

As there is a large internal floor space, it was difficult to use scarecrows to scare the pigeons out. Lasers were a safety risk, and screamer boxes were irritating and loud for the workforce.

We wanted to remove the birds legally without causing them too much distress, whilst maintaining the highest level of health and safety for our workforce. After carefully trying out various solutions, we opted to use a hawk.

Hawks and birds of prey are traditionally used to keep other birds from nesting on roofs of buildings, but we used a hawk to chase pigeons out from within the building. This method is very effective, safe and natural, and uses very little resources.
