PowerCap Infinity Respiratory Protection

Dust in the workplace is a significant issue. Looking at the HSE figures (2017) we can see that 18,000 new cases of work related respiratory disease were diagnosed and significant proportion of these were a result of exposure to silica.

The Ferrovial Construction KAD Substructure project has required and requires a number of operatives to perform activities where dust is generated, including silica dust. The standard process is for operatives to wear dedicated face masks for which they have been face fit tested. It is a requirement for said operatives to be clean shaved in order to guarantee an effective seal and the required level of protection.

At the KAD substructure project we realised the clean shaving requirement was challenging to manage and intrusive to certain operatives due to its incompatibility with their beliefs, religion or culture. For this reason we decided to implemented the use of the PowerCap Infinity Respiratory units which can provide a high level of respiratory protection without the need for intrusive clean shaving requirements.

In addition, we also found the units also provided high levels of head protection, good panoramic vision whilst providing impact protection and compatibility with our helmet mounted ear defenders.
