Precision Laser Setting out of MEP Reference Points

Cloud-based collaboration between the Design Team and Site engineers allows the user to download, to a tablet, information and unique reference codes for installation points of Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) fixtures, along with CAD drawings to assist the user in determining background accuracy of floor level and location.

Using unique reference codes pinpointed within the design, the user can wirelessly communicate this information to the laser level, which then precisely marks the exact location of each fitting by using x,y and z coordinates. These codes distinguish between the type of fitting at each location: Ventilation, electrical and mechanical.

Using three-dimensional coordinates, the laser can compensate for build intolerances and is accurate to within a mm. The user marks the precise spot and then uses a different coloured spray to identify the nature of each fixing point – lights, vents etc. – by spraying a halo around the centre-point

Using this laser, 500 points per day can be marked. Precision marking has speeded up the install time, since the need for measuring has now been superseded.
Accuracy in install has improved immensely. It follows then, that insulation and completion can take place when a room is vacant making it easier, and speedier, for operatives to complete their work.
