Raising Awareness of Illegal Working

The Considerate Constructors Scheme ‘Spotlight on… illegal workers’ follow up article, coincides well with some work we have been doing at Ardmore to raise awareness of these issues.

  • We have carried out training for all those who are responsible for checking Right to Work with a company called Safe, part of the NHS;
  • This training specifically provided very useful guidance on how to spot potentially fraudulent documentation;
  • Provided clear instructions to all concerned on who exactly to check, when, and on what to copy and record;
  • Clarified the process, through process maps and guidance notes;
  • Given a presentation to the senior management team.

This has since resulted in the identification of a fraudulent passport, which was dealt with swiftly and appropriately.

Ardmore has had a sound process in place for some time but this latest focus has helped to provide further clarity and re-emphasise the need to be extremely vigilant.
