Ramadan

Site Managers should consider religious and cultural needs, to ensure that the workforce feels valued and supported.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast as well as engage in prayer and spiritual reflection.

Colleagues should be aware of Ramadan and respect the fact that practising Muslims will not consume food or drink liquids for a month, during daylight hours.

The following actions were taken to raise awareness of Ramadan:

  • A good practice notification on Ramadan and fasting was placed on noticeboards around the site to inform operatives;
  • This provided the supervisors and operatives with information on how to provide assistance and advice to those who are fasting.
