Safety Sleeve

Contractors should be seeking new ways to enhance on-site safety, ensuring all their employees have the adequate equipment to protect them on-site.

See the examples below for how one site addressed this:

  • A company employee designed a ‘Safety Sleeve’ after suffering an arm injury when reaching into the void above the ceiling.
  • The ceiling void is often full of metal grids, pipes, cables and wires, posing a number of hazards.
  • The sleeve prevents accidents from exposed hanging wires for ceiling installers and other tradespeople.
  • The device clips onto the suspension wire and slides over the exposed trailing end, holding both in place and covering the sharp ends.
  • The product is manufactured by Knauf AMF, and Interserve is the first contractor to purchase and pilot the product.

This initiative is an example of ensuring on-site safety while also supporting the professional development of the workforce.
