Smart Refuelling Station

In order to reduce the amount of fuel deliveries coming in from individual subcontractors and to control the refuelling zones on site, the project team arranged for a Speedy fPod to be set up on site, so they could control the amount and type of fuel being used on site.

The fPod is a single refueling point for any site, servicing every fuel user and contractor. Each contractor has to log in with a key fob to be able get fuel from the fuelling station. The user is separately invoiced based on all usage recorded. The fPod will be automatically filled by Speedy using a remote monitoring system reducing risk of fuel run-out. A single refuelling point for all fuel users and subcontractors removes the need for multiple bowsers and deliveries.

The benefits of using this system are:

  • Carbon reduction due to increased fuel storage capacity and management onsite which reduces the amount of vehicle movements
  • Reduced spills by having one controlled refuelling environment
  • Reduced traffic and noise by consolidating fuel delivery
  • Accurately capture subcontractor fuel use
  • Shared commercial benefits are available to all users through a bulk purchasing process
