Snip the Strap Campaign

With face masks and coverings now becoming the norm, there are a substantial amount of disposable masks now in use on construction projects.

The RSPCA have made a plea, asking people to cut the straps off their disposable face masks prior to disposal, following an increase in calls to rescue wildlife such as birds and animals who have become tangled up in the straps. They are now urging people to cut the elastic ear straps before disposing of the masks.

This contractor is running a ‘Snip the Strap’ campaign on their site to encourage our workforce to do just that. They are implementing training, posters and virtual materials on site to encourage this, as well as a ‘snip the strap’ station consisting of a box cutter to enable people to easily and safely cut the ear straps off of their mask.
