Self Policing on Site

As part of our ongoing approach to safety and promoting a positive and open work environment, the site management team are continually improving and using new ways to promote positive behavioural change.

The Woodmansterne Secondary School site team have implemented a ‘Self Policing’ initiative, to encourage and support self-policing behaviours on site.

Self-policing is a form of self-regulation in which you monitor your own individual adherence to legal, ethical and safety standards.

Hence the aim is to promote good practice on site, and have individuals become empowered to reward fellow colleagues’ excellent behaviour and correct unsafe practices before a dangerous consequence comes to fruition.

The ‘Self Policing’ initiative has been launched on site via a ToolBox Talk, and issuing of police badge stickers to site operatives to place on their hard hats. Feedback has been great, and it just shows that something simple can have a large impact on site behaviours for all.
