PlantSnap App

The PlantSnap app works by taking a photo with your smartphone to immediately classify a wide range of terrestrial plants including flowers, trees, mosses and mushrooms.

By using the app, any rare or non-typically occurring species and its location can be identified and in turn, protected from uprooting or environmental damage. Likewise, the app can discover invasive plants on site. By finding these plants, specific treatment can be given.

On this site, an ecologist regularly visits and uses the PlantSnap app to carry out qualitative terrestrial surveys. The ecologist has said that the application is very effective and a reliable tool in facilitating the survey process and for eliminating any margin for error. Roadbridge hopes that projects across the UK will start to use this app in its aim to protect the environment.
