Reusable Packaging

The construction industry is estimated to be responsible for around 40% of the UK’s waste.

We have been working with our subcontractors to tackle this issue and minimise unnecessary waste.

SQP is the first site to use reusable, collapsible boxes for our M&E. These were specially developed for use at SQP and was something the contractor developed as part of our zero waste strategy.

The box is durable and can be flat packed. The supplier removed all extra packaging before packing the items in this box to be delivered to site. At site the contents are unpacked, the box folded down and then the supplier collects and reuses them. This design means that it is strong enough to hold the required waste and is long lasting. Unlike cardboard, it is waterproof, eliminating additional plastic wrapping on items and reducing the risk of damaging.

We are looking to make these common place in the future and to eliminate unnecessary packaging waste.
