Environmental Wheel

Day-to-day, we all have an influence on the environment we live in. Our ‘Environmental Fact Wheel’ offers interesting facts about the little things we do every day which can have an effect on the environment.

We have divided the facts into five main target areas: Resources, Water, Waste, Carbon and People.

Examples include:

  • Recycling only one aluminium can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours.
  • More than three million children under the age of five die every year due to environmental factors like pollution.
  • The average UK family throws away six trees worth of paper in their household every year.
  • The UK throws away 2.5 billion disposable coffee cups every year. This is enough so stretch around the world five and a half times!
  • Half a million trees have to be cut down just to produce the Sunday newspapers each week.

The wheel is positioned within the subcontractor compound and all subcontractors are encouraged to use the wheel as a learning aid to raise environmental awareness within our workforce so that we can all make small changes that have huge impacts on the sustainability of our environment.
