Carbon Footprint Leaderboard

Mace launched their Net Zero Carbon (NZC) strategy in January 2020, and have held several webinars, comms sessions and relevant literature for their sites to clearly outline the strategy and what it means for their projects.

As well as carbon modelling and practical steps taken on site to influence their most carbon intensive packages of work, it’s important that those not directly involved in these works understand the importance of the NZC strategy, and the wider impacts.

As such they have created a Carbon Footprint Leaderboard for the project at One Crown Place. They asked the team to complete an online questionnaire to determine their score which is provided as a percentage, with a comparison against the UK and global averages. This was then compiled into a project leaderboard and shared with the team. This raises awareness, and encourages everyone to take practical steps to improve their score at home, which can also translate into the work environment.

The first leaderboard was well received and was shared with the whole project team via email as well as team meetings and displayed on site noticeboards. Theye plan to update the scores every quarter, and potentially have an incentive prize for the top scorer on each publication.
