Water Conservation

On this project they drilled a well to provide water for their welfare facilities. As yet they are not connected to the Irish Water Network and this would normally mean importing water, increasing demand on supply and causing emissions from transport.

They are also utilising standing water, capturing, filtering and spreading for dust suppression and road sweeping within the project boundary and on 2.4km of local road networks.

The drilled well will enable them not only to supply water requirements in the welfare areas, but also fill ponds and water features with water from a natural aquifer which has not come from the water network, been treated within the network, or imported and has originated from within the project grounds.

This will also allow them to fill the water features promoting habitat and ecology faster than allowing seeping and rainfall to fill the ponds.
