On completion of the new extension to the Queens Hill Primary School, we made a tree out of an original beam from the demolition works which started as the trunk.
We then got all the trades involved including scaffold as the branches, a wooden bird box, concrete foundations, brickwork, copper wire for smaller branches, ceiling fixing wire to hold the branches to a centre piece at the top, and painters to paint all of the different parts.
There are tags hanging from the branches so that children can write their aspirations. It was a lasting legacy from all the team; from first drawing the plan, to the school writing and publishing a book on the tree and the builders involved. The site manager even got a fully signed copy from all the teachers.
