Doorminator for Heavy Door Installs

A mechanical piece of equipment called the Doorminator 40100 from Paragon Pro, is being used by one of the trade contractors to assist with the install of the heavy, fire-rated doors. The door is into place on the Doorminator instead of being lifted. The item has a load capacity of 181.4kg, can install doors of up to 3m high by 1.2m wide, and can be folded up for easy transport.

A single operative can use it to take the weight of the door (can be over 100kg), position and fix the door, and release when fully hinged. This reduces the strain of manual handling and the potential for injury.

The installation of doors is typically done by manual handling by operatives and can be challenging from a health and safety perspective. It carries injury risks such as musculoskeletal issues and trapped fingers, particularly when manoeuvring heavy or cumbersome doors.

Manual handling causes over a third of all workplace injuries so alternative solutions are constantly sought. On the project over 400 doors are being installed so safe and efficient methods are very important for worker safety. It also helps with damage prevention and programme delays as the door install process carries an element of risk through knocks and drops.
