Dust Prevention Coating

Maintaining a positive and tidy appearance of the site sets a good impression for the contractor and the industry as a whole.

One of the most noticeable pollutants to a local area’s appearance is dust.

There is likely to be large emissions of dust and dirt in and around an active construction site, but there are various methods that can reduce the visibility and impact to the appearance and also the surrounding environment.

One site adapted their approach to minimsing dust pollution as per below:

  • A special coating known as DB3 (Dustbuster 3) is a moisture absorbing and eco-friendly solution sprayed over hard standings and loose ground alike;
  • The coating penetrates from 70-100mm and significantly reduces the potential for airborne dust;
  • The solution is capable of withstanding traffic movements to some degree, and is more effective than water. It is referred to as a ‘medium term’ solution and lasts up to 3 months;
  • It has also been used on walls and was found to be very effective. During drying conditions, the product is drawn to the surface and takes up atmospheric moisture, replacing water content at the surface (effectively a film which replaces itself in drying conditions).
