Electronic Waste Transfer Notes

The administration side of waste management can be overlooked on large projects due to the number of waste lorries arriving on site and the logistic constrains a site may face. However, the waste duty-of-care legal requirements require a robust management system to be implemented on every site.

To this end, the project team is using electronic waste transfer notes (WNTs) for each load of non-hazardous waste moved off their premises. The electronic WTNs has to be fully completed before it can be signed off by the driver and the customer, thus ensuring that each ticket is 100% compliant with the legal requirements.

Moreover, all electronic tickets are accessible via an online platform so there is a clear audit trail from when the waste is produced until it is disposed of.

Lastly, a project-specific waste recycling report is available at any point for each of the tickets and each of the waste destination facilities used. This report includes a breakdown of the waste streams, the total weight of the waste removed from site and the diversion from landfill rate with an additional breakdown between the recycling and energy recovery rates.
