DNA – Diversify/Nurture/Accept. DNA is an initiative developed by three people within the contractor.
It is a network aimed at all the protected characteristic groups (age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation), with the goal to build meaningful support networks to inspire and empower people so that they can achieve their full potential and advance to leadership roles.
The aim is to nurture the new and existing talent at every level by taking the time to build their confidence, resilience and assertiveness. By educating the wider company through raising awareness of challenges and highlighting inequalities faced in the industry and community will help promote acceptance and inclusion.
DNA will strive to encourage the company to actively build a more diverse workforce so they can be the best version of themselves. To do this DNA have reached out into the business where it received full backing from the Senior Leadership Team, support from their T&D team and financial backing to bring in qualified expertise to provide structure to the sessions that will be rolled out for all within the company to join.
The sessions are available for people to join online and have been structured to provide knowledge and a safe space to talk. The sessions are themed, e.g. building confidence, communicating assertively, role models and sharing experiences etc and success will be measured by surveys and questionnaires at specific times through the year.
