Overbury London Fruit and Wool Exchange project were honoured to host two groups of local students with a six month engineering project challenge. These challenges will encourage safer working practices on projects, along with supporting young, talented students to help us think differently.

One of these challenges involved finding improvements that could be made to the bandsaws for cutting raised access floor tiles. The saw blade guard must be manually adjusted and is often poorly maintained.

The other project is to consider how to manufacture a small, easily wearable and maintainable dust monitor with alarm sensors.

Overbury also hoped that the success and enjoyment of the challenge will encourage the students to consider a career in the construction industry, with our graduate schemes being the first on their list of choices.
