In Case of Emergency App

A sound health and safety policy is essential on a construction site. As is having in place procedures in case of an emergency, so that injured people can receive medical attention promptly and effectively.

See the examples below for how one site achieved this:

  • The site used the GoodSAM (Good Smartphone Activated Medics) emergency app;
  • When activated, the app calls emergency services with the precise location of the incident, identifies and alerts the nearest First Responder, and locates the nearest registered defibrillator;
  • The remote nature of the app means that even if an accident occurs nearby off site, the on-site first aider can help in an emergency;
  • The app relies on a nationwide network of registered first aiders;
  • GoodSAM integrates new technology to deliver functions like the life detector which can measure a patient’s heart and breathing rate.

Using this app ensures a rapid response in case of emergency and also makes a construction site’s first aiders aware of incidents in the nearby community.
