Large Scale Food Bank Initiative

Working in collaboration across the project, the contractor has worked with their client and trade contractors to launch a large scale foodbank initiative. The intention of this drive is to accumulate a substantial donation for their local foodbank to ease food insecurity for local families.

To ensure the initiative is widely applied, the project has launched two donation mechanisms. The first involved creating a donation point at their site entrance which was accessible to every employee working across the projects. The donation point was clearly signed and was supplemented by a poster campaign with details of the initiative displayed in the offices, in the welfare and across site. To encourage donations, the drive was also publicised via presentations, notices and emails detailing the donation process with the intention of reaching the widest audience possible.

The second donation process sought to encourage large, corporate donations from trade contractors. This involved trade contractors purchasing a food shop which was delivered to site before being transported with individual donations to the foodbank’s warehouse. Before completing the shop, the foodbank was consulted, and a list of high demand items were sent to those supporting the initiative to ensure a targeted shop.

Examples of these items included sanitary products, nappies and vegan meals. Over £1000 worth of food donations have been made so far, with additional donations anticipated in the coming weeks and coordination with the foodbank ongoing and a local company pledging a monthly £250 donation.
