Noise Alert Indicators

The site team currently has 38 supervisors and managers on site all of which have these monitors attached to their PPE at all times.

The feedback has been excellent as it provides each individual instant indication of noise levels in the immediate vicinity. This subsequently enables them to notify other persons in the area to use hearing protection.

The noise alert indicators feature a green and red LED light that flashes green when the noise levels are below 85dB and flashes red when this level is exceeded, making the device an ideal tool for which managers find very useful due to the ever changing noise levels on different areas of the construction site.

Prior to implementing, we found it difficult to determine exactly when hearing protection is required without using the devices as different areas present different levels of risk. We found that since these the noise alert indicators have been implemented, management has requested more hearing protection zones and screens to be installed as it has made them more aware of the noise emitted from what they historically thought were standard construction environments.

The noise alert indicators have also become an effective training tool to ensure the operatives understand which tasks require hearing protection. It has opened up more discussion on the subject of occupational health which is always welcomed by our team here and we will continue to look for similar device to endure our drive for continuous safety improvements.
