Plant and People Segregation – Halo Light System

Safety risks relating to mobile plant and vehicles are often associated with three issues: the vehicle, the operator and the workplace.

To improve safety for all three, it is important that plant and humans are segregated.

The thumbs-up campaign on site promotes vigilance for both the plant operatives and all personnel working near plant. In the darker hours especially in winter and spring, visibility can make it harder for operatives to protect themselves from plant.

The project has introduced the use of a halo system, which warns nearby personnel and banksmen of a safe distance and exclusion zone with clear 360° red LED light demarcation.

All plant currently on site with the ability have the system to prevent contact between personnel and the plant.
